CARACTERIZACIÓN ANATÓMICA DE MADERA DE Salix viminalis L. [1]

El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar las características anatómicas de la madera de Salíx viminalis L.. Sauce mimbre, materia prima cuyas condiciones de trabajabilidad para la artesanía está ampliamente demostrado en Chile. No obstante, la búsqueda de nuevos usos en la silvicultura y la industria enfocado hacia la diversificación de especies y productos forestales, requiere de una investigación que aporte una herramienta de decisión para la inversión y el desarrollo de la sociedad.

Mediante maceración y cortes se obtuvieron muestras con las cuales se realizaron las mediciones en elementos como: poros, vasos, fibras, lumen y radios, observándose diferencias significativas frente a otras especies del mismo género. Algunos resultados fueron: 181,4 poros por mm2, 352,36 u de longitud de vasos, 458,15 u de longitud de fibras, junto a una altura de radios de 10,5 en número y 108,29 u en longitud, entre otras características relevantes vistas en fotografías de cortes microscópicos.

The objective of this study was to determine wood anatomic characteristics of Salix viminalis L., which good conditions as raw material for making handicrafts based upon willows has been widely pro ved in Chile. However, the searching of new uses in forestry and manufacturing industry, if based on vegetal species and products diversification, requires of basic research that provides making decision tools that allow the investment and society development.

By means of willow wood maceration and cuts, laboratory samples were obtained; upon these samples some elements as pores, vessels, fibers length, lumen and radius length were measured and compared with similar elements of other species. Significant differences were found among the measurement of willow samples and the other species. Main results were 181.4 pores per mm2; 352.56 u. of vessels; 458.15 u. of fibers length, together with a radius height of 10.5 in number and 108.29 u. in length, and other important characteristics showed by the micro-cuts pictures (tr ,tg,rd).
